Are you a kind person? Do you often go out of your way to spread kindness towards others? Do you know how to be kind? Are you reflecting Christ in your kindness? Do you need a quick list of Bible verses on being kind?
Kindness is a great act that one can express to other people. You can show kindness by being generous to the people who are in need.
You can be kind towards your neighbor by helping them with lawn work or making them some cookies. You can show kindness towards your coworkers by sharing a quick smile or holding the elevator door for them.
You can express kindness by being considerate of the people around you, like praying for an elderly person, letting a family go ahead of you in the line or lending a helping hand to someone who just dropped their groceries.
Kindness is contagious and can easily brighten up the day of anyone who receives it. That’s why kindness is considered one of the most important traits that one person should have according to this study by Andrew Thomas from Swansea University.
But, despite the good and “happy feelings” that come from being kind, this simple or sometimes big act is tough to do. There are instances wherein you find it hard to be kind because you woke up at the wrong side of the bed or you burnt your toast which resulted in a bad mood for the entire day.
Maybe, you got caught in traffic which made it hard for you to share a smile to the young kid who waved at you. Your budget got ruined by a blown-out tire which escalated to you being mad at your wife and not helping her with the house chores.
Or worse, as we’re facing a pandemic and fighting an invisible enemy that may put our lives in danger, it’s why instead of sharing a pack of toilet paper with another person, we keep it and hoard other essentials that other people might need.
Truthfully, we’re in a sad and scary situation right now that’s why I, you, and everyone else for that matter may find it hard to be kind. That’s why now more than ever, we should follow the faithful instructions of Jesus Christ and show His eternal kindness through our actions as Christians.
Don’t worry, you’re not being judged and I totally get it, but believe it or not, a kind heart may contribute to fixing this situation that the world is facing right now. Kindness may not save us, but it can be the perfect solution to lighten the load that we are all carrying right now.
It is written in Ephesians that we have to imitate Jesus Christ. We can achieve that by being kind towards others as a reflection of the kindness that our Savior showed us.
During this time when we’re being challenged physically, emotionally, and even spiritually, what we need is the calming feeling of having God within us.
But the question is, how we can be kind when we’re in this tight situation? How can you be kind when you’re fearing for your family’s safety? How can you be kind when your neighbor is not kind to you? How can you be kind when you feel that it will make you vulnerable even more?
The answers to those questions are not hard to find because God Himself gave them to us already. We have many scriptures to help us express His steadfast love through kindness during this time.
